The desktop is not intended to be visible to users, because there is NoDisplay=true in the .desktop file because it is used for xdg- autostart. In Lubuntu from the menu System Tools->Fcitx; fcitx does not open when selected from menu In Mate from the menu System Tools -> Fcitx; fcitx does not open when selected from menu If when fcitx is selected from the menu and nothing opens is the intended behavior I will mark this bug as invalid. If you could clarify the intended behavior that would be helpful. Could you clarify what do you mean by "open when selected from menu"?
