2016-09-09 Thread Ara Pulido
We have continuing testing this, and this looks like a malfunctioning
hardware, as other units work well.

Marking this as Invalid.

[Bug 1619231] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9350] suspend failed to resume

2016-09-02 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Do you happen to know the last kernel version that did not exhibit this
issue? To perform a bisect, we need to identify the last good kernel
and the first bad one. If you don't know that last good kernel, it
might be best to start by testing the upstream 4.4 final kernel:

[Bug 1619231] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9350] suspend failed to resume

2016-09-02 Thread Taihsiang Ho
Hi, I tried to bisect the mainline kernels and found some more tricky
steps to reproduce this issue. The issue could be easier to reproduce if
we wait for longer (> 20 sec) when the system is trying to get to sleep,
and then press the power button to wake it up.

The latest test result is:

(mainline) v4.8-rc3 - could reproduce this issue.
(mainline) v4.8-rc4 - could reproduce this issue.

That is, the latest kernel could still reproduce this issue.

I will hide my comment (the comment#4 of this thread) because its test
result is outdated.

[Bug 1619231] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9350] suspend failed to resume

2016-09-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Taihsiang Ho, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from
kernel 4.4.19 to 4.8-rc3 in order to identify the last bad commit,
followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has
been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do
this following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

It is most helpful that after the fix commit has been identified, you
then mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1619231] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9350] suspend failed to resume

2016-09-01 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
