Public bug reported:

after package installation, it just display the error message. I'm using Ubuntu 
14.04.5.
Prior to this update, I was reinstalling  ttf-mscorefonts-installer which 
failed; this is the script
I ran:
  sudo rm -rf /var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/partial/*
  sudo apt-get --purge --reinstall install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
