apparenly the couple of patches you attached contain no just the changes
in the packaging but also the changes in the upstream code, could you
narrow it down to the files in debian/* please?

Attached is my patch.

Sponsors, please take a look at the debian/changelog file specifically,
I want to make sure I did that right. Also, please look and make sure
it's compatible with Debian Policy revision 3.9.8 and Debhelper 10, I
want to make sure I got that right too.

It builds fine locally for me.
