[Bug 1640181] Re: Need a patched 4.9 kernel to compile nvidia drivers

2016-11-15 Thread dino99
** Description changed:

As the unstable kernel ppa now has 4.9 kernel, i've installed it on a
system using a nvidia-370/375 driver, but both fails at compile dkms
  time.

This is an identified problem and a proposed patch is already ready:

https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/972761/linux/linux-4-9-git-rc1-375-10-build-errors/

- Could the kernel team include that patch as there is no workable nvidia
- driver yet ?
+ note: there is no full working patch found yet (the above one allow
+ compilation but the kernel fails to load)

You have to use virtualbox-source if you want to play with kernels not
in the repo.
