It's now an issue here with both Ubuntu 18.04 and Xubuntu 18.04 although different amount of text not visible. Seems fine using Xubuntu 17.10 so may be a problem with the theme rather than with Thunderbird. Sam, please advise which version/flavour of Ubuntu you are using.
