Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete. If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: nmap (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1702789 Title: package ndiff 7.40-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nmap/+bug/1702789/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1702789] Re: package ndiff 7.40-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Hi Russel, from your log I see: from ConfigParser import SafeConfigParser ImportError: No module named 'ConfigParser' That is odd, I don't know how this got broken - but that is part of a completely different package. Maybe some custom local python setup that breaks this? I'd recommend following some older guides around just this issue like [1]. Bug 1618666 suggests that this python module was renamed and it seems your systems packages are in some kind of version mismatch - which would also suggest a broken custom python setup as the reason.
