[Bug 173132] Re: package network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu17 failed to install/upgrade:
I have upgraded nm-0.6.5 to nm-0.7 and downgraded it again to the original configuration of nm-0.6.5 just to check if some garbage wasn't migrated to the nm-0.7 installation. Now I am testing nm-0.7 without problem (wired connection). The process I did was to download all network-manager deb packs from the repos with their dependent libs. Also I removed all instances of wlan0, eth0 or ath0 in the /etc/network/interfaces and also removed wpasupplicant.conf file from /etc/wpasupplicant/. Using dpkg I could reinstall network-manager and restore it to a previous working environment. -- package network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu17 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 173132] Re: package network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu17 failed to install/upgrade:
I got an error message yesterday when I started synaptic. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was to the effect of: there has been a problem with a package. Please run dpkg --configure -a I ran that command (with sudo, of course) and now everything seems to be fine. The next entry in my term.log has no mention of network manager in it at all, and I can run synaptic and apt-get with no problems. -- package network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu17 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

And now that I think about it some more, I believe the first time the problem happened, I was able to shutdown the system properly. The system was responsive: however, there was no network functionality. That was the only time the system has recovered from the error. [Bug 173132] Re: package network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu17 failed to install/upgrade:
The error first occurred during the distribution upgrade process. After the system rebooted, I opened a terminal and did a 'sudo apt-get upgrade' to attempt to install the network-manager again. It failed a second time for the same reason. I noticed during the second attempt that package gnome-orca (gnome- orca_2.21.2-0ubuntu1_all.deb) was held back (this was not evident during the distribution upgrade process). I did a sudo apt-get install gnome- orca to force it to install. Apt-get downloaded and configured gnome- orca and THEN proceeded to install/configure network-manager. This time it was successful.
