[Bug 1732057] Re: WiFi Microcode SW Error Detected
Did a little more digging in my old logs. I think I found kernel logs from my zesty install. iwlwifi firmware jumped from v22.391740.0 up to v31.532993.0 (probably during upgrade). Shortly after that is when I experienced the first 'Microcode SW error detected'. Would it be worth me reverting back to v22 and trying that? I'm definitely a n00b when it comes to kernel/firmware stuff. Not sure how it all works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1732057 Title: WiFi Microcode SW Error Detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1732057/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1732057] Re: WiFi Microcode SW Error Detected
Hey Joseph. Thanks for your time and quick reply. I have no problem trying 4.14. However, this is a little outside of a standard install. I'm running '/' on top of ZFS. I'm pretty sure ZFS isn't out yet for 4.14. So if I install that version without ZFS included, my system won't boot. One good thing is I kept my 17.04 '/' dataset. So I've been looking for config differences and Google-ing trying to diagnose it myself. I did notice a bug with similar symptoms (Bug #1681513) stating there is a new privacy feature added to NetworkManager. Something about MAC Address Randomization breaking some WiFi adapters. Comparing my old and new NetworkManager config. There's a new line that wasn't there before. Could this new feature be causing it? Just stabbing in the dark here. :-| ** Attachment added: "NetworkManager.conf artful" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1732057/+attachment/5009116/+files/NetworkManager.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1732057 Title: WiFi Microcode SW Error Detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1732057/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.14 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
