I'm on 20.04 and the steps in #4 did not fix the problem for me. I open Pinta, then open a 3.4 MB JPG. If I just leave it here, it's fine. Then, I click the rectangle selection tool, starting drawing a selection, it quickly hangs, then crashes. Or I start drawing on the image (the default tool after opening the image is a brush), it quickly hangs, then crashes. #4 rocks! Thanks Jason. I can confirm, adding the official latest stable mono release to my package repos resolved the frequent crashes I used to have with pinta. The issue seems to be with the Mono libs. I can confirm this too, new install, constantly crashes trying to do any simple tasks with an image. Doesn't seem to matter what the size of an image is. Big question, is this going to be fixed? We been including Pinta in our imaged OS build for 2 1/2 years. It's simple, powerful and easy to learn.
