Same thing here and whats ever stranger is that the is that my terminal is just an all white box when visual effects are turned on. I have the same problem too (using Nvidia GPU). Those of you with nvidia are having different problems, this problem is that the decorations go away when changing from Normal effects to Extra effects, not go away when you turn on effects. I made a fresh install with alpha-6 snapshot and activated the Nvidia drivers through Administration/Hardware Drivers. Still the same problem: hardware acceleration works, compiz gets activated automatically after a restart, but window decorations are missing! I have to fall back to metacity in order to use hardy alpha-6. In my opinion this is a major show stopper.
