[Bug 1813071] Re: virtualbox 5.2.24-dfsg-4build1 ADT test failure with linux 5.0.0-1.2

I mistakenly attached the patch based on the tip of the upstream virtualbox repo rather than one based on the 6.0.4-dfsg package source. [Bug 1813071] Re: virtualbox 5.2.24-dfsg-4build1 ADT test failure with linux 5.0.0-1.2
The full commit message from the kernel: vfs: Suppress MS_* flag defs within the kernel unless explicitly enabled Only the mount namespace code that implements mount(2) should be using the MS_* flags. Suppress them inside the kernel unless uapi/linux/mount.h is included. Following commit 1751e8a6cb93 "Rename superblock flags (MS_xyz -> SB_xyz)" in the Linux 4.15 filesystems should be using SB_* flags and not MS_* flags. There is no SB_REMOUNT flag, so probably the correct behavior is to #ifdef that out for 4.15 and later (but undoubtedly the check is not actually needed even farther back). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813071 Title: virtualbox 5.2.24-dfsg-4build1 ADT test failure with linux 5.0.0-1.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1813071/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

oh... looks like you might need to include uapi/linux/mount.h to have it? commit 250bfc87ddc427fa001bbc8bc1468ce5fc06645b Author: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo Date: Tue Jan 8 13:42:37 2019 -0300 tools include uapi: Grab a copy of linux/mount.h We were using a copy of uapi/linux/fs.h to create the mount syscall 'flags' string table to use in 'perf trace', to convert from the number obtained via the raw_syscalls:sys_enter into a string, using tools/perf/trace/beauty/mount_flags.sh, but in e262e32d6bde ("vfs: Suppress MS_* flag defs within the kernel unless explicitly enabled") those defines got moved to linux/mount.h, so grab a copy of mount.h too. [Bug 1813071] Re: virtualbox 5.2.24-dfsg-4build1 ADT test failure with linux 5.0.0-1.2
We report the bugs because we are currently working to prepare this kernel for the development release. We try to get all dkms packages fixed prior to the final upstream release (though we don't always hit that goal). However virtualbox is a particularly important one for us since we build the guest modules in the kernel source tree. So from our perspective, the sooner we can have the fixes for each new upstream -rc kernel, the better. Apologies for the missing log file, I'll try to figure out why it isn't working with virtualbox anymore. Fwiw it does work with most other dkms packages.
