Public bug reported: I have GRUB_TIMEOUT=5 set since... I don't even remember. It is always the same value (5 seconds) in my GRUB settings. Since some time I realized that my GRUB menu is counting from 30 seconds, no matter what I set in /etc/default/grub. update-grub command doesn't help.
