[Bug 184603] Re: grep -o wrong output
Thanks for your bug report. Unfortunately I can't reproduce this bug because grep gives me the right output. Can you tell me which version of ubuntu and grep are you using? ** Changed in: grep (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Andrea Corbellini (andrea-bs) Status: New = Incomplete -- grep -o wrong output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 184603] Re: grep -o wrong output
Can you also try to reproduce this bug in other shells (i.e.: bash, dash, zsh, ...)? I think this problem can be related to some aliases. -- grep -o wrong output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 184603] Re: grep -o wrong output
Hello! Thank you for looking at this. Here is all I can think of that might answer your questions: grep -V: grep (GNU grep) 2.5.1 aptitude show grep: Version: 2.5.1.ds2-6build1 echo $SHELL: /bin/bash With all combinations of a) Starting (executing) /bin/dash /bin/zsh4 and b) Setting SHELL to the new shell or leaving SHELL=/bin/bash alone I still get the same erroneous results. I also created a new user and tried this with the same results. I run kubuntu gutsy with all the latest updates. I have played with the kde4 packages, but I would be surprised if this influences grep... Anything else I can send you? [Bug 184603] Re: grep -o wrong output
Ah, and I have actually first noticed this behaviour on a fresh install of ubuntu server 7.10... -- grep -o wrong output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 184603] Re: grep -o wrong output
I can confirm this on Gutsy (grep 2.5.1) but this is fixed on Hardy (grep 2.5.3). ** Changed in: grep (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Assignee: Andrea Corbellini (andrea-bs) = (unassigned) Status: Incomplete = Triaged -- grep -o wrong output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
