[Bug 185352] Re: [kde4] K Menu bar incorrectly positionned with clone display

2008-09-29 Thread fmo
Tested Friday (26/09) on Intrepid livecd seems to work fine, I haven't
installed onto disk but can be closed as far as I am concerned.

Cool. Un-linking the KDE bug since it doesn't deal with a KDE4 issue.

Is this still a problem in KDE 4.1?

Addendum to my last comment: you have to set the correct permissions for
the plasma.sh script, of course:

sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/kde4/bin/plasma.sh

[Bug 185352] Re: [kde4] K Menu bar incorrectly positionned with clone display

2008-05-09 Thread Andreas Braml
I created a shell script that switches off the laptop panel and sets the
external monitor to the desired resolution (via xrandr) before Plasma
starts on login, but only if the external monitor is connected; if it's
not, no tweaking is needed with X resolution settings. I called the
script plasma.sh and placed it in /usr/lib/kde4/bin (see attachment).
You have to set the VGA resolution to fit your external monitor (mine is
1440x900).

I had to alter the Plasma startup file /usr/lib/kde4/autostart/plasma.desktop
to integrate my script in the startup sequence.
The line
Exec=plasma
has to be changed to
Exec=plasma.sh

This is still no fix, but it works for me.

Does your laptop have Intel video by chance?

Yes my laptop uses an Intel GMA950 chipset.

This bug seems to be the same as
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58280 that you mentioned at least
comment #6

2008-02-28 Thread fmo
Unfortunately I have deleted that installation since I reported the bug.

What I can say is that the bug still appears with Kde 4.0.1 version that
was released yesterday (27/02) as part of Hardy Kde4 LiveCD release.

Is this still happening with the 4.0.1 updates for KDE 4? I think I
witnessed something similar a couple of months back while attached to a
projector but cannot remember 100%. Thanks!
