[Bug 1863801] Re: [snap] chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders
I can now reproduce the crash in a clean and up-to-date 20.04 VM by deleting ~/snap/chromium/common/.cache (which was suggested earlier this week as a workaround to bug #1863412). This message is relevant: (chrome:12573): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: 09:41:55.751: Cannot open pixbuf loader module file '/home/paul/snap/chromium/common/.cache/gdk-pixbuf- loaders.cache': No such file or directory This likely means that your installation is broken. Try running the command gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /home/paul/snap/chromium/common/.cache/gdk-pixbuf-loaders.cache to make things work again for the time being. Chromium shouldn't crash when the cache folder is deleted, there's something to fix there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863801 Title: [snap] After deleting the cache, chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1863801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Still crashes for me too I closed chromium, `sudo apt update; sudo apt full-upgrade` and `snap refresh` waited briefly, then re-open chromium, go to mewe & try and click icon to upload a photo & crash before file-dialog... [Bug 1863801] Re: [snap] chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders
Looks like this problem affects only 20.04 ? I briefly had a similar issue on Monday where saving any PDF file open in chromium would crash the browser before the save as dialog got a chance to appear. But it's now gone, and I have verified that I can upload files too. Tested on my work laptop running a rather bloated 20.04, and in a clean 20.04 VM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863801 Title: [snap] chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1863801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1863801] Re: [snap] chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders
I'll add my primary desktop (20.04 where I had this issue) is bloated with lubuntu, xubuntu, ubuntu-mate & ubuntu desktops installed. It's because of this that I test first on a 'clean' (or near clean) system as well. I was using LXQt on both -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863801 Title: [snap] chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1863801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1863801] Re: [snap] chromium crashes when file picker is called to upload files or folders
It's been doing this since Monday for me (it's Wednesday my local time) but I usually like confirming the issue on another box before I bug report. On my other (qa-test install so almost untouched; nfs-common & some very minor changes) box it uploads without issue? hence I didn't file bug report. On this my primary box though, it's been unable to since Monday 17-Feb (Wed 19-Feb now). The reason I was trying to upload was because of a user reporting issues on https://discourse.lubuntu.me/ with 20.04, and whilst this wasn't the exact issue the user was reporting, it had me testing too (the issue there was different $HOME folder showing and not the real $HOME which had wanted files; https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium- browser/+bug/1798450) For me, the moment I click upload (before I get to navigate to file to upload), chromium windows close. When I re-open it resumes as it was a few days before (not the place it was before crash). To confirm for this entry, I tried to upload photo to mewe; it crashed - and history only shows the 'restore session' for today, not whatever I did earlier today.
