There is nothing wrong with my keyboard layout. Typing sudo -s without touching the keyboard for any additional input, gives those password error messages, as explaned in the original report. Like I said my system is working again due to snapshots, I will wait for a new corrected update. Thank you, but I run VMs on top of ZFS, so I restored the Virtualbox vdi file from the last snapshot and blocked futher updates. I'll wait for the correction. If needed, I can easily try-out something, using this time the VBox snapshots. Of course the proposed apt correction did not work since sudo fails.
