[Bug 187365] Re: Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore
I would try to uncomment the Sync/Refresh rates of your monitor, your Modes section and add instead of the last one the line Virtual 2048 2048. After that restart X and please post the output of xrandr again. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That fixes the bug for me. Thank for your help. [Bug 187365] Re: Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore
In 2:2.2.0.90-2ubuntu2 everything up to 1600x1200 works fine, no more flickering. However, 1900sth is still not possible. -- Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 187365] Re: Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore
Okay, it was fault of the sync-rates - It's the same output without the Virtual Line. Crazy, my Xorg.conf worked just fine in Xorg 7.2. However I had tried it without monitor-data inside the conf before 2:2.2.0.90-2ubuntu2, so probably the new release fixed a part of this bug too. [Bug 187365] Re: Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore
Btw. the Virtual line is still needed if you plug in your monitor after start because of Bug #158415, but it should work out of the box if the monitor is plugged in on X start.
Just for the record could you please uncomment the Virtual line too, restart X and check it out again. If it still works than it was possible the fault of the sync/refresh rates so there is no real bug in the driver. -- Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 187365] Re: Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore
xorg.conf first. Also please note that when I start my Laptop with VGA plugged in or restart X with VGA plugged in, I get the resolution I wish for, however it starts flickering like crazy and goes black for the time when I use my mouse. Output then: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1600 x 1600 VGA connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 388mm x 291mm 1600x1200 85.0 + 75.0 1280x1024 84.8*74.9 75.0 1024x768 84.9 75.1 70.1 60.0 800x60084.9 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48084.6 75.0 72.8 60.0 720x40070.1 LVDS connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1024x768 60.0 + 800x60060.3 640x48059.9 TV disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1280x1024 is working fine then, but 1600x1200 flickers. Also the Monitor should support resolutions up to 1900sth. ** Attachment added: xorg.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11699248/xorg.conf -- Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 187365] Re: Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore
Hi Fabian, Can you please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf files, and the output of lspci -vvnn? There can be a few reasons why an externally attached VGA monitor may come up as 1024x768 max in xrandr, but a common reason (and one I suspect in this case) is the 'EDID' information from the monitor is not coming through (this can be determined by inspecting the Xorg.0.log file). Without the EDID, xrandr will simply assume some safe generic defaults (which implies a maximum of 1024x768). A workaround if this is the case would be to manually specify your Horizontal and Vertical refresh rates in your xorg.conf. You can obtain these values from the manual that came with the VGA monitor. For example: Section Monitor Identifier Generic Monitor Option DPMS HorizSync 30-130 VertRefresh 48-170 EndSection ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Xorg 7.3 with Intel does not display maximum resolution anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
