[Bug 1887478] Re: missing symlinks for login and logout files used by gnome

2020-08-03 Thread Yousuf 'Jay' Philips
Looking as the spec file, it seem that I maybe mistaken.
http://0pointer.de/public/sound-naming-spec.html

desktop-login The sound used when a user logs into the system, played as a
welcome sound immediately after the login screen disappeared.
desktop-logout The sound used when a user logs out of the system.
service-login The sound used when a user logs into a service (i.e. Gaim login)
service-logout The sound used when a user logs out of a service (i.e. Gaim
logout)
system-readyThe sound used when the computer is booted up and shows the
login screen.
system-shutdown The sound used when the computer is being shut down.

[Bug 1887478] Re: missing symlinks for login and logout files used by gnome

2020-07-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue is old and has been discussed e.g in
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=538617

The sounds have been removed in that commit
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/sound-theme-freedesktop/commit/?id=7c4e2f77

Are service-login and logout really supposed to be session login and
logout sounds though? Let's see if upstream or Debian have an opinion

Debian is upstream to Ubuntu. Here is a MR at freedesktop.org.

Thanks for the details, the url in the description is a Debian change,
not an upstream one though, but let's see if it gets reviewed there

2020-07-16 Thread Yousuf 'Jay' Philips
As mentioned in the bug description, I've filed a MR upstream to fix the
issue and this is a downstream bug for tracking. To test the issue,
install the freedesktop sound theme and enable it as the default sound
theme, and install the gnome-session-canberra to get the startup and
shutdown execution. I'm running xubuntu 20.04.

Why should that be done in the package and isn't done upstream? Also how
do you test those service, using what desktop?

The package is missing desktop-login.oga and desktop-logout.oga which
should be smylinked from the existing service-login.oga and service-
logout.oga.

[Bug 1887478] Re: missing symlinks for login and logout files used by gnome

2020-07-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read 'How to report bugs effectively'
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!
