If you weren't installing package in the livecd environment, was the /proc mounted? I have done an upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 beta with update-manager --dist-upgrade-devel. After the upgrade update-manager told me to send a bug report. As I have seen icedtea-java7-bin seems to be disappered in Hardy and I removed it from the system. Do not know if this brekas something. At the moment I am upgrading 5 more systems to 8.04 beta and I will see if this was a problem only on this system. Three systems have just finished upgrading and no reports about icedtea-java7-bin. I am sure that /proc was mounted, otherwise the system would have behaved very strange ;-). ** Changed in: icedtea-java7 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- package icedtea-java7-bin 7~b24-1.5+20080118-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, the icedtea-java7 -- openjdk-6 transition is explained in bug #203636. -- package icedtea-java7-bin 7~b24-1.5+20080118-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

libjli.so gets shipped by icedtea-java7-bin itself and it appears that it's not available during the postinst already. However, I could not reproduce it by purging icedtea-java7-bin (and sun-java6-bin, which provides this file, too) and then reinstalling icedtea-java7-bin. Maybe this is related to ldconfig being called not before the call to java in the postinst? ** Changed in: icedtea-java7 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- package icedtea-java7-bin 7~b24-1.5+20080118-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
