Sadly, yes. It would be still annoying, but I get used not to use terminal in full-screen. Compiz is disabled. It is reproducible for me not just with a different and new user, but also one a different machine. Maximazing the window can happen through pressing F11 or the system-wide hotkey for this. The window of gnome-terminal should left in full screen mode, and shall not be minimized. Not just OOo, but also interaction with other programs are able to cause the sudden reappearing of the full screen window. (But this is the only one that works always for me.) If OOo is also in full screen, nothing happens.
