Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox
ISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=7.10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=gutsy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 7.10" ii rhythmbox 0.11.2-0ubuntu4 music player and organizer for GNOME I was listening just fine, no problems since I started using Ubuntu last year, it was about 10 seconds into a track when the sound just spontanously stopped. I tried restarting the track, I tried playing the previous track, I tried playing other tracks, no sound, none on headphones, none on the speakers although the visualization (monowave?) did show activity and the time-lapse indicator was still running, but no sound out of rhymbox. I checked the gnome volume control, everything was set, no muted channels. I tried a video file using totem, it played fine, no problems. I killed firefox and any other programs that were likely to be blocking the sound (timidity as an alsa daemon) still no sound out of rhythmbox. I exited the program and restarted it, no sound. I set the sound options to turn "Crossfade" on, still no sound. I tried mpg321, no problems, beautiful sound. it is only rhythmbox that has stopped functioning.
