Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
I'm running hardy on a Dell Inspiron. I was running xfce for a while, but have gone back to gnome; since then I have been having this problem. I don't get any Desktop icons. When I open nautilus from the command line, it crashes immediately. when I use gnome-open file://~ it opens OK, but crashes when I try to examine the Desktop. I'm not getting any apport errors. I attach the backtrace I get from the command line for both types of crash. The crucial line seems to be ** (nautilus:19307): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: Not supported *** glibc detected *** nautilus: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x081dcac4 *** This happens in both compiz and metacity __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ sudo dpkg -l nautilus | cat [sudo] password for cundy: Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-f/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/t-aWait/T-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-==========================================-==================================-============================================ ii nautilus 1:2.21.91-0ubuntu3 file manager and graphical shell for GNOME $cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu hardy (development branch)" ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
