[Bug 1961039] Re: Brightness control with integrated AMD GPU and NVidia GPU

2022-02-16 Thread Tomasetti Romin
** Package changed: ubuntu => nvidia-graphics-drivers-510 (Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

  System information
  --

  Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (development branch)
  Release: 22.04
  Codename: jammy
Integrated AMD GPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics
  GPU : NVIDIA GA106M [GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile / Max-Q] with
nvidia-driver-510

  Description of the problem
  --

I can't change the brightness of the screen using the hot keys or the
  settings menu.

It is clear that these buttons are acting on the value stored in
/sys/class/backlight/nvidia_0/brightness, but has no effect on the
  actual brightness.

However, modifying manually the value in
  /sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/brightness changes the actual
  brightness.

  Troubleshooting attempts

If I downgrade the nvidia dirver from 510 to 470, controlling brightness
  works fine.
+
+ Using nvidia-driver-495 also works fine.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1961039/+editstatus and add the
