[Bug 1966364] Re: Error messages since last update

2022-03-30 Thread Elfranne
Issues have been fixed upstream:

"binary_bios_measurements": https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/pull/4292 (fixed in
1.7.6)
"json-glib": https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/pull/4100 (cannot see when/if this
is fixed)

2022-03-25 Thread Mario Limonciello
FYI both of these are harmless. They just mean HSI security attributes
won't be able to measure and keep track of history. HSI security
attributes is still under development anyway.

Do you have TPM enabled in your firmware?

>The second is more puzzling as I seem to have the latest version of
json-glib for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

The message means the version in 20.04 is too old for this feature.
There are newer ones upstream.

[Bug 1966364] Re: Error messages since last update

2022-03-25 Thread David Civera
Thank you so much Chris for your help and for your willingness to walk a
complete noob through this process :) I've read the link and have a
quick question:

I first started this particular journey by asking a question as I wasn't
sure it was really a bug.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupd/+question/700933

After a couple of back and forths I was told filing an bug was an
option, so I just "converted" that question into a bug report. In that
particular case, should I use "ubuntu-bug PACKAGE" or should I do what
you advised: "apport-collect BUGID". I'm assuming that running ubuntu-
bug would create a new bug report, so apport-collect works best here,
but I prefer to ask :)

Again, thank you so much. Your willingness to walk someone like me
through the process is really rewarding and gratifying.

[Bug 1966364] Re: Error messages since last update

2022-03-25 Thread David Civera
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected third-party-packages

** Description changed:

Recently, fwupd is throwing two new (to me) error messages in
  /var/log/syslog

fwupd[100718]: 22:11:50:0717 FuPluginTpm failed to load
  eventlog: Failed to open file
  "/sys/kernel/security/tpm0/binary_bios_measurements": No such file or
  directory

  and

fwupd[100718]: 22:11:50:0882 FuEngine failed to record HSI
attributes: failed to get historical attr: json-glib version too old

The first one seems to have been solved on the GitHub
(https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/issues/4290) so not sure if I should
  just wait for an update.

The second is more puzzling as I seem to have the latest version of
  json-glib for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

  Hope this helps.

[Bug 1966364] Re: Error messages since last update

2022-03-25 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1966364

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.
