Not a problem specifically with mplayer; closing mplayer task. ** Changed in: mplayer (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Bálint, have you tried IgnorantGuru's fix to /etc/udev/rules.d/70 -persistent-cd.rules? What's the output you get if you type cd /dev; ls -l scd* dvd* cd*? -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 197068] Re: No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5
I can confirm the bug in intrepid 8.10 I followed Bálint Magyar's advice above and fixed the issue. Under Preferences Misc i set my DVD device to /dev/cdrom1 and it worked like a charm. Since I have a CD drive and I DVD drive (both internal) I executed a 'ls /dev/cdrom*' command. It returned /dev/cdrom1 /dev/cdrom2 It turned out cdrom1 is my DVD drive on my machine.
This bug is still present in Intrepid final and all updates as of the date of this post. MPlayer tries to use /dev/dvd, however, the correct device is /dev/cdrom0 in my case. Totem works as intended. The wiki article mentioned above has nothing to do with this bug. ** Attachment added: dmesg.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19344980/dmesg.log -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 197068] Re: No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 197068] Re: No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5
I just dist upgraded to stable 8.04 and I am having this problem. I followed the steps above to fix udev 70-...-cd.rules. It didn't make a difference. I am using mplayer. In its preferences dialog under the misc tab it says /dev/dvd and the udev file also lists /dev/dvd. For some reason Mplayer still reports no stream found to handle url dvd//1? Any other solution out there? -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 197068] Re: No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5
Same problem with a recent fresh install of Kubuntu Hardy/KDE3. The problem does not appear to be a kernel bug, but a misconfiguration in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rulesThe system-wide fix for this is available here... http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5014367postcount=4 The Mplayer-specific fixes above also work. Three months and no progress on this... sounds to me like someone doesn't want Ubuntu users to play commercial DVDs. -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Did anyone try adding -dvd-device to the mplayer or gmplayer start command? I found in Hardy that this command won't work: gmplayer dvd://1 It results in the error No stream found to handle url dvd://1 However, this command works: gmplayer -dvd-device /dev/scd0 dvd://1 -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Not an mplayer bug. Duplicated on an AMD64 desktop (os is i386) using Hardy 8.04 Alpha 5. This happens in Totem and mplayer as well. Some people reported that Totem's Play Disc option works, but it also gave the same error for me in this case. -- No stream found to handle url dvd://1 in 8.04 Alpha 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
