[Bug 197542] Re: [hardy] dell d410 Volume keys not working

2011-06-11 Thread Shimi Chen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 197542 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 197542] Re: [hardy] dell d410 Volume keys not working

2008-03-04 Thread naught101
sorry, Perhaps I didn't explain very well. Xev reports the keycodes
correctly, so it is working, but the symbols aren't set. I'm sure if I
used xmodmap I could get them working, but it should work by default.
Here are the outputs from Xev:

  Volume down press:
KeyPress event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x321,
root 0x57, subw 0x322, time 2732093, (46,41), root:(48,57),
state 0x0, keycode 174 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

  Volume down release:
KeyRelease event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x321,
root 0x57, subw 0x322, time 2732093, (46,41), root:(48,57),
state 0x0, keycode 174 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

  Volume up press:
KeyPress event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x321,
root 0x57, subw 0x322, time 2732996, (46,41), root:(48,57),
state 0x0, keycode 176 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

  Volume up release:
KeyRelease event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x321,
root 0x57, subw 0x322, time 2732996, (46,41), root:(48,57),
state 0x0, keycode 176 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

  Mute press:
KeyPress event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x321,
root 0x57, subw 0x322, time 2734456, (46,41), root:(48,57),
state 0x0, keycode 160 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

  Mute release:
KeyRelease event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x321,
root 0x57, subw 0x322, time 2734456, (46,41), root:(48,57),
state 0x0, keycode 160 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

For reference, the Fn+pgup/pgdn volume keys report the same keycode as these
volume keys, and the Fn+up/down for screen brightness DOES work, but it doesn't
have symbols, and xev doesn't even recognise Fn+down.
