[Bug 198666] Re: VFS: busy inodes on changed media.

2013-12-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Joolz, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily
folder, but the one at the top) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

2011-08-23 Thread mancio984
Same problem for me on Natty.
I have a usb pen drive that emulates a CD-ROM drive that gives this message.
After ejecting the drive the flood stops, but no usb drive is automatically
recognized anymore, you have to mount them manually or reboot the system. VERY
BAD BUG!

2011-05-18 Thread Benjamin Tayehanpour
This affects me on 11.04. Even worse, it also affects those pesky usb
thumb drives that for some reason also emulates a CD-ROM drive,
rendering the entire drive unusable until you eject the emulated CD-
ROM drive.

Shouldn't there be a time factor in deciding importance of bugs? Seeing
as this one is well over three years old I mean :)

Actually it turns out this problem does eventually fix itself. I didn't
reboot last week after all and now everything is working again. I'm
assuming something times out after several hours.

I just ran into this problem on Lucid 64 bit.

The workaround using eject does not seem to work for me. Looks like a
reboot is the only way to get use of my CD drive back.

2010-05-29 Thread Gregor Flesch
I can confirm and reproduce this bug on Lucid 32bit.

1. Boot Ubuntu
2. Insert DVD
3. Remove DVD by pushing the hardware button on the DVD-ROM
4. Inserting another DVD triggers the bug. I can get rid of it by restarting
Ubuntu

If I click on the eject-Button in Nautilus instead the hardware button,
everything works fine. It seems that the DVD isn't unmounted correctly
when using the hardware button.

2010-03-05 Thread Mikkel Christensen
I got this too on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10. I stopped the message flood just
by clicking eject on the dvd icon that was still in Nautilus although
there was no DVD in the drive. I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't
been looking for another error in the logs. I don't think it makes any
sense for this message to be repeated many times per second. I think
that the eject button on the drive ought to work without causing
problems like this.

[Bug 198666] Re: VFS: busy inodes on changed media.

2009-11-29 Thread Paul D
Just started doing this. I was using Ubuntu 9.10 for a few weeks now, then out
of the blue the busy inodes message started flooding the log. I checked the log
to see if I was still getting the pulseaudio[5406]: ratelimit.c: 173 events
suppressed messages. The log instead was swamped full of the inodes deal. I
used the CD infrequently, but did so a few hours ago.
I am used to using the drawer button on the CD/DVD player.
