We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com) If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks in advance. Hello, Well, I did actually got it to work under Hardy. But I had to install later versions of xserver, xserver-input-joystick and some more .deb packages from Debian Unstable. And I where to post that here but other things got in the way and then I started using Intrepid and havent got my SixAxis gamepad to work again, so I haven't tried if it works in Intrepid. X will usually start - but it will die if any axis is activated. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sixaxis#Driver%20Installation has information on how to patch the module to make it work in hardy. Hope to see this fixed in Ibex. I have the same problem in Hardy (Release version). It seem the input- joystick driver doesn't work at all. It used to work fine in Feisty. I tested with multiple joysticks and with all joysticks the X server restarts as soon as I move an axis, pressing buttons works allright though and produces the desired effect (e.g. emulate keystroke). Xorg.log.0 (included) says the following about it: (EE) Joystick: ioctl EVIOCGVERSION on '/dev/input/js1' failed: Invalid argument. Please someone fix this, I use it very often :) Thanks! It worked fine for me in Gutsy. Now I havent got my SixAxis gamepad to work in Hardy, yet.
