[Bug 202811] Re: Luks encrypted usb key does not mount

2008-06-16 Thread Chris
Same issue here: I plug in the USB key with the encrypted partition
(/dev/sdb2 for example) The password dialog pops up, and the partition
appears in the Nautilus Sidebar as 1.9 GB Encrypted Partition. I put
in the password, and the partition disappears from the Nautilus sidebar.
The mapping appears (ls -l /dev/mapper shows the following:

crw-rw 1 root root 10, 62 2008-06-16 15:46 control
brw-rw 1 root disk 254, 0 2008-06-16 23:48
luks_crypto_ba194f34-1122-4e41-a6dc-fc5e0b85edf4
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $

If I try 'pmount /dev/sdb2' at the terminal, I get prompted (at the
terminal) for the LUKS password.

I noticed that another LUKS partition for which I allowed the password
to be stored permanently does get automounted when I plug in the USB
device it's on. Could be the developers didn't test the case where the
user selects Forget password immediately? Or maybe it's working
because the password was saved when the machine was running Feisty and
still works after the upgrade to Hardy?

[Bug 202811] Re: Luks encrypted usb key does not mount

2008-06-16 Thread Chris
Just noticed something else: if I do 'pmount /dev/sdb2' and enter the
LUKS password, a drive icon for it appears on the desktop with the title
0.0 kB Media. Double-clicking that opens it as normal.

[Bug 202811] Re: Luks encrypted usb key does not mount

2008-06-01 Thread zathras777
I have the same problem. Used to work fine, but has suddenly stopped
automounting or even being mountable using gnome-mount :-(

Inserting the USB key gets me a password prompt, the various mappings
appear to be created correctly, but nothing more happens.

Any progress on this?

Nothing has change since going from Hardy Beta to the official Hardy
release. The password prompt still pops up, but the drive is not mounted
automatically. I can of course do mount /media/sandisk to mount it,
but it's annoying.

I've just upgraded to hardy and tried: the luks-encrypted usb key does
not trigger any specific behavior anymore. I still can mount it using
pmount.

[Bug 202811] Re: Luks encrypted usb key does not mount

2008-03-26 Thread Samuli Seppänen
I had this problem on my Ubuntu Gutsy and I can confirm that it still
persists after an upgrade to Ubuntu Hardy Beta. On Debian Etch it
everything works as it should. I've attached log files as requested in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices

[Bug 202811] Re: Luks encrypted usb key does not mount

2008-03-26 Thread Samuli Seppänen
One more thing... in Gutsy an icon appeared in Nautilus sidebar after I
had given the volume password. By clicking that icon I could view the
files in the crypted volume. Now, with Hardy Beta, nothing happens in
Nautilus. Thus I can't access the volume. What I can do is add this to
/etc/fstab:

/dev/mapper/luks_crypto_7fcd5fdd-1d1e-4e3a-b0f2-6337f0f84deb
/media/sandisk ext2 auto,user 0 0

and as root do a mount /media/sandisk to mount the volume.
