Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24
After upgrading from Feisty (2.6.20) to Gutsy (2.6.22) and later Hardy (2.6.25), the kernel from both Gutsy and Hardy hang right after detecting my IDE devices. The last message printed on the console before hanging is the Uniform CD Driver loading. In my Feisty kernel, the next lines printed after the CD driver loads are about my RAID array (md-style, not LVM), so something in the newer kernels may have broken it. My feisty kernel continues to boot fine, but I would like to use the newer updated kernels. I use the following extra parameters to the kernel: root=/dev/md0 noapic noacpi (the last 2 are due to a buggy NIC driver in the previous Ubuntu release) I saw some other reports about similar issue, but were related to Intel chipsets, which I don't use. Someone marked my previous bug report a duplicate of 154591, but IT IS DEFINITELY NOT. Since they marked it a duplicate, nobody has bothered to look at my report and I've never gotten any responses.
