I have the same problem. I can do nothing with the file. I have tried to remove, purge, force with apt, aptitude, dpkg and no results. APT Error. Context: Running dpkg, [ /usr/bin/dpkg, --status-fd, 3, --unpack, /var/cache/apt/archives/ttf-arphic-uming_0.2.20080216.1-1ubuntu2_all.deb ], Sup-process returned error code 1, Error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/ttf-arphic-uming_0.2.20080216.1-1ubuntu2_all.deb : short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/share/fonts/truetype/arphic/uming.ttc'). this problem looks like you are out of memory or something like that. However, I cannot reproduce this issue.
