Pops out first bit, slight delay (2 sec or so) and then the full tray slides out. Trying to get around the delay, I went in to gconf-editor and turned off animations. The panel started appearing in the upper left corner, despite the drawer icon being in the lower right corner. Happens on i386, X86_64, multiple different machines with Intel/AMD, nVidia, Sony Vaio laptop, Fedora 8, Fedora 9. Only thing I see in common is Compiz. And, even with MetaCity, Drawer isn't exactly a speed demon (though it's much faster with MetaCity). I can confirm that the problem exists, in both 7.10 and 8.04. I did not test with Compiz switched off. It is pretty pretty annoying I must say. I can confirm the issue still exists with a fully up to date hardy.
