*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 35942 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/35942 Hi Emanuel, I'm just guessing if this problem could be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nspluginwrapper/+bug/174343 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/184149/ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmplayer/+bug/190168 The workaround at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmplayer/+bug/190168 works for me (although not perfectly). I compiled kmplayer from source with npplayer support. [Bug 214655] Re: Konqueror doesn't play flash videos in Kubuntu 7.10
** Description changed: Binary package hint: konqueror Flash videos at sites like youtube.com and tudou.com do not work properly in Konqueror in Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 . Opening up a video just displays a grey box with audio but no sound. Konqueror slows down/hangs but does not crash. Opening up the flash test page at the adobe website, does display the flash animation properly though. I have the following installed:- pool/multiverse/f/flashplugin-nonfree/flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12_i386.deb pool/main/k/kdebase/konqueror_3.5.8-0ubuntu2_i386.deb - Konqueror doesn't seem to be using libflashplayer.so even though - /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree has been added to plugins>scan folders + Could Konqueror be using flashplugin-alternative.so instead of + libflashplayer.so even though /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree has been + added to plugins>scan folders, and some conflict coming into play? - sudo apt-cache policy flashplugin-nonfree :- flashplugin-nonfree: Installed: 9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12.2 Candidate: 9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12.2 Version table: *** 9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12.2 0 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy-updates/multiverse Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12 0 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/multiverse Packages --- sudo apt-cache policy konqueror :- konqueror: Installed: 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2.2 Candidate: 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2.2 Version table: *** 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2.2 0 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/main Packages --- lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 7.10 Release:7.10 uname -a :- Linux 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux - about:plugins Plugin Description File Types RealPlayer RealPlayer LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In G2 libkmplayerpart.so audio/x-pn-realaudio - Real Audio Stream (rm) audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin - RealPlayer Plug-in (rpm,rm,ram) Windows Media Player Plugin Windows Media Player Plug-in libkmplayerpart.so application/x-mplayer2 - Windows Media Player (wmp) audio/x-ms-wma - Windows Media Audio (wma) video/x-ms-asf - Media Files (asx, asf) video/x-ms-asf-plugin - Media Files (*) video/x-ms-wmv - Windows Media Video (wmv) video/msvideo - AVI (avi,*) video/x-ms-wmp - Windows Media (wmp,*) video/x-ms-wvx - Windows Media (wvx,*) audio/x-ms-wax - Windows Media (wax,*) application/x-drm-v2 - Windows Media (asx,*) audio/wav - Microsoft wave file (wav,*) audio/x-wav - Microsoft wave file (wav,*) video/x-ms-wm - Media Files (wm,*) QuickTime Plug-in QuickTime Movie libkmplayerpart.so video/quicktime - QuickTime (mov,qt) Java Plug-in Java Plug-in KJAS for Konqueror kjavaappletviewer.so application/x-java-applet - Java Applet (class) application/x-java-bean - JavaBeans (jar) + Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115 libflashplayer.so + application/x-shockwave-flash - Shockwave Flash (swf) + application/futuresplash - FutureSplash Player (spl) Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115 flashplugin-alternative.so application/x-shockwave-flash - Shockwave Flash (swf) application/futuresplash - FutureSplash Player (spl) Helix DNA Plugin%3A RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible version 0.4.0.626 built with gcc 3.2.0 on Jul 26 2007 nphelix.so audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin - RealPlayer Plugin Metafile (rpm) Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115 flashplugin-alternative.so application/x-shockwave-flash - Shockwave Flash (swf) application/futuresplash - FutureSplash Player (spl) Helix DNA Plugin%3A RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible version 0.4.0.626 built with gcc 3.2.0 on Jul 26 2007 nphelix.so audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin - RealPlayer Plugin Metafile (rpm) Mime Type Description Suffixes Plugin audio/x-pn-realaudio Real Audio Stream rm Installed audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin RealPlayer Plug-in rpm,rm,ram Installed application/x-mplayer2 Windows Media Player wmp Installed audio/x-ms-wma Windows Media Audio wma Installed video/x-ms-asf Media Files asx,asf Installed video/x-ms-asf-plugin Media Files * Installed video/x-ms-wmv Windows Media Video wmv Installed video/msvideo AVI avi,* Installed video/x-ms-wmp Windows Media wmp,* Installed video/x-ms-wvx Windows Media wvx,* Installed audio/x-ms-wax Windows Media wax,* Installed application/x-drm-v2 Windows Media asx,* Installed audio/wav Microsoft wave file wav,* Installed audio/x-wav Microsoft wave file wav,* Installed video/x-ms-wm Media
