[Bug 218140] Re: Hardy locks up completely

2009-06-09 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Can you confirm whether this problem still exists in the latest Hardy
kernel from -proposed? Version 2.6.24-24.54. If you could test that
and report back here that would be helpful. Please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

[Bug 218140] Re: Hardy locks up completely

2008-10-10 Thread Ralph Janke
The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Beta release was most recently announced -
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/beta . It contains the 2.6.27
Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test and verify if this
is still an issue. The status is being set to Incomplete until we
receive further feedback. Thanks.

[Bug 218140] Re: Hardy locks up completely

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 218140] Re: Hardy locks up completely

2008-05-20 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Just to see if it makes a difference, care to test the upcoming Intrepid
Ibex 8.10 kernel? It was most recently rebased with the upstream 2.6.25
kernel and is currently available in the following PPA:

https://edge.launchpad.net/~kernel-ppa/+archive

If you are not familiar with how to install packages from a PPA
basically do the following . . .

Create the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kernel-ppa.list to include the
following two lines:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kernel-ppa/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/kernel-ppa/ubuntu hardy main

Then run the command: sudo apt-get update

You should then be able to install the linux-image-2.6.25 kernel
package. After you've finished testing you can remove the kernel-
ppa.list file and run 'sudo apt-get update' once more. Please let us
know your results. Thanks

2008-04-30 Thread A. Meschede
Hey GTengeneer.

I think i read about your problem before. It's different to mine. I
believe yours has something to do with your built-in WLAN device. Just
read through the bug system here I can't find the right bug thread right
now.

My problem isn't solved yet though. Just had a complete lockup just 5
minutes ago. Lost my data and had to turn the system off and start
again. Guess I have to switch back to 7.10 or use windows.

I have a friend with another Centrino Duo Notebook and EXCACT same
issue. So I am 100% sure my hardware is not the cause. Too bad noone
seems to have an answer here or care about this issue, though

Hi,

We just need a little more information to begin debugging. Per the
kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the following
information. Please be sure to attach each file as a separate
attachment.

* cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
* dmesg > dmesg.log
* sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

For more information regarding the kernel team bug policy, please refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Thanks again and we
appreciate your help and feedback.
