I have verified that selecting the "only free software" in the daily alternative iso snapshot (20080617, i386) uses only main from the cd source in /target/etc/apt/sources.list during the install, linux-image- generic is the kernel that gets installed and not linux-generic, and that the hardy-security line in the installed sources.list does not include restricted. I have not reverified the daily-live cd image. http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/base-installer/hardy- updates/revision/328 fixes this for the alternate CD too (tested by manually modifying /usr/lib/base-installer/library.sh in a running installer); I'd missed out a few special cases for CD installs in base- installer.
