[Bug 220871] Re: Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes.
I should be working on a SRU for hardy soon. It might concentrate on bugs that don't have an easy workaround though. -- Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220871 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 220871] Re: Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes.
Shouldn't we also fix this for hardy since it's a long-term release? -- Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220871 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 220871] Re: Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes.
Apparently the version is Intrepid allows tomcat55 to write in /etc/tomcat5.5/Catalina/localhost/ $ ls -ld /etc/tomcat5.5/Catalina/localhost/ drwxrwx--- 2 tomcat55 adm 4096 2008-09-09 14:47 /etc/tomcat5.5/Catalina/localhost/ I can't reproduce this bug with that version, I'm closing this as Fix Released. Please test and reopen if there is any remaining problem. ** Changed in: tomcat5.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low Status: New => Fix Released -- Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220871 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 220871] Re: Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes.
Nice, we knew that already. So what you're saying is that both the design as well as the default configuration are retarded, and that because of that we don't have to change anything. [Bug 220871] Re: Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes.
According to the documentation this is by design, since the tomcat5.5 user does not have the necessary privileges to make the changes: /usr/share/doc/tomcat5.5/README.Debian There is a webapp for basic web-based administration of Tomcat's webapps in the tomcat5.5-admin package. You need to add one of the users in /etc/tomcat5.5/tomcat-users.xml to the manager role and probably set a better password. The "Web Application Manager" can then be accessed at http://localhost:8180/manager/html. There's also a more sophisticated administration webapp called "admin" in the same package but it can't make permanent changes to the configuration since the tomcat5.5 user does not have permission to do this in the default configuration. -- Creating a new context using the /admin interface does not commit changes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220871 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
