Hi Chris, I finally reformated my PC, now I have Ubuntu 9.04, my PC is now
fast and working beautifully.
I am very happy with Ubuntu, OO and the open source community.
Thanks a lot for your help.

In hardy with openoffice.org 2.4.0, there is a problem with the

spreadsheet that I created years ago and use with each new version of

It works ok with any new spreadsheet I create, but only is a problem with
the old one. Therefore, I cannot repeat tell you how to reproduce this bug.

This may be similar to a bug reported on gentoo:

 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219351

but, in my case, the work around of changing the background color to white
 makes no difference.

I downloaded the openoffice.org-2.4 binary from openoffice.org website and
tried it and the grid lines worked fine on my old spreadsheet.

For me, the only work around I could find is to select the whole sheet
(Cntl-A), then go to menu format cells borders select all cells
bordered and set border color to light grey. This at least looks like a
grid when the sheet is displayed.

Interesting, so my bug would not be gridlines not showing but grid
lines always white.
I changed gridlines and background to several colors but the gridlines

Chris Cheney already suggested a solution to erase some old OO

days.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Although it may be intended behavior, I
don't really think it's ideal behavior. The pure OpenOffice.org builds
don't behave that way, and it makes it look like there are compatibility
problems when opening ODS files created on other systems. Don't forget
that there are a huge number of Windows users running OpenOffice and
almost all of them use the pure OpenOffice.org package which also give
different results than with the Ubuntu packages.

I forgot about conditional formatting. Disable conditional formatting on
