There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. The same bug. Banshee, for example changes tag information well, but Rhythmbox (even started from root) doesn't. Changes are dislpayed in Rhythmbox, but immediately they restores to default. (Not for all files.) One of such files - in attachment.
