[Bug 231715] Re: 'connect to server' crashes nautilus

2008-05-19 Thread Seth Myers
the mount folder disappears after the session has ended.
Yes, mounts are not persistent across sessions, this is doing exactly what it
should do.
This is not how my desktop was working whilst using 7.04. Not really a problem
then, just liked the old way better.

though the 'bookmarks' remain at the [Places] toolbar and seemingly cannot be
deleted.
This is interesting, can you give more information on how exactly it cannot
be deleted? If you press ctrl+b in a Nautilus window, you can't remove it
from the places menu there? If you right click it in a browser window and
select remove, you can't remove it there?
My mistake, was unaware of [Ctrl] + B command.

... in addition, initiating a file transfer to a connected server has
been crashing nautilus. for example, a firefox page may be minimized but
there is no way to unminimize firefox or any other program running on
the toolbars. the [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Backspace] command logs out the user but
does not seem to solve the nautilus crash as the toolbars do not
reappear after logging in again. the only fix is to reboot from the
login splash.

Thanks for your bug report.

mounting a connection to a server in this manner (though requested ssh)
results in an sftp connection that is mounted at the desktop.
Yes, this is doing exactly what you requested it to do, making a network mount.
Also note that ssh: is just an internal alias for sftp:; they do the exact
same thing.

Lastly, if it crashes: please try to obtain a backtrace
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach the file to the
bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.
