Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: synaptic I took my desktop to another place and installed several programs in the other operating system parition (non unix-based OS). When I came back home and booted from the new kernel entry in grub, 2.6.24-17-server, (this I took from uname -a, don't know why it says server), I could hear no sound, and the mixer icon in the top menu had the mute white cross. So I clicked it and the error box in the attachment showed up. If I choose to boot from previous kernel in grub options, then everything works. What is going on? What should I do to reconfigure the sound card? [Bug 236444] Re: System says no sound card configured
Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest Karmic 9.10 development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic . Please then run following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p alsa-base 236444 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- System says no sound card configured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 236444] Re: System says no sound card configured
Dear Hurin, pedro said that is not a synaptic problem (probably is an alsa package problem). Maybe you should start with : 1) cat /proc/asound/cards #look if is detected your card 2) lspci -v lspci.log #for check your audio card For further information please check https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting Regards -- System says no sound card configured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
