Thanks for having reported this bug on LaunchPad. Do you have any error message when trying to start openoffice.org with you user? On 6-20-2008 I ran updates and removed Evolution Mail. After that OO would not start. Today 6-23-2008 I reinstalled Ubuntu 8.04 because of system crash. OO started fine until I instaled sun java 6 and installed over 200 updates. OO will only start in terminal as sudo openoffice .
