I have booted the Intrepid Ibex Alpha 1 release into Virtualbox and got the same results. Ok, I managed to get my console output via de serial port to a log file. I think there are some serious errors within the log file. The log file is attached to this posting. When I log into my Alpha 1 on my vmware workstation the pc speaker gives me a noise like disturbance on a radio and it totaly jams. I have a comparable problem. When booting Intrepid Alpha on a VMware Workstation 5.5.0 it does boot, but when I login the system hangs. I did not have this problem when upgrading to Intrepid with kernel 2.6.19. I know that there is a way to pipe the boot kernel messages to the vmware serial port, but cannot recall how to do this. Does somebody know how?
