Public bug reported: Hi,
I usuall install Kubuntu over LVM (possibly encrypted) using the live CD, because I find creating the LVM manually (would be nice if the live CD could include the lvm2 and cryptsetup packages, they're rather small and it would save me to "aptitude install" them each time and have to chroot to finish the install on the destination HD to add lvm2 again...) then performing a "live CD install" is faster and easier rather than using the "alternate CD", so I first manually create the LVM and volumes and then install on it doing a normal "live CD install". I've found out that the Kubuntu live CD installer manual partitioning tool cannot install on LVM volumes (it doesn't properly recognize them) if they haven't been previously mke2fs'ed or mkswap'ped, but it's OK if they have been. Would be nice if the partitioning tool could recognized LVM volumes even if not populated with a filesystem (as it will mkfs them later on anyway)... ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Hardy] Kubuntu live CD installer can't install on unformatted LVM volumes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
