This problem is related to vsync on intel cards. Boxee has the same problem. You can turn it off unchecking menu/Options/Limit Frame Rate. I can confirm this problem here, same video card, same problem. I am having the same problem with an Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS, 910GML. It does the same thing when running Google Earth, despite the fact that my computer can run it fine in Windows XP. Please could you confirm if direct rendering is working on your display (glxinfo | grep rendering). If you are using the Switch User feature, direct rendering only works for the first user to log in. Thanks for the reply. I do have direct rendering working: direct rendering: Yes I have tried it with and without Compiz, but it's slow either way.
