looks to be worthwhile to pull in version 1:2.23.6-0ubuntu1 ** Changed in: netbook-remix Importance: Undecided => Medium Assignee: (unassigned) => Michael Terry (mterry) Status: New => In Progress Target: None => rc1 -- gnome-panel needs gconf option to suppress movement https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 250862] Re: gnome-panel needs gconf option to suppress movement
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-panel - 1:2.23.6-0ubuntu1 --- gnome-panel (1:2.23.6-0ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low * New upstream version: Panel - Fix assertion in multiscreen code - Use GtkMountOperation instead of custom code - Lots of code cleanup - Use GIO to open URI, including mounting volumes if required - Improve use of GIO to open recent documents, including startup notification - Do not show lock/logout/shutdown in the menus if those items are locked down - Fix cosmetic issue when opening the menu where launchers or applets got the focus drawn (lp: #18361) - Fix compilation on OS where MAXNAMLEN is not defined - Change behavior of struts for auto-hiding panels: the strut is live updated and matches what is shown of the panel. This means the size of a fullscreen window changes when the panel gets hidden/unhidden Misc - Require GTK+ 2.13.1 - Explicitly require gio-unix-2.0 - Require libgweather 2.23.6 Clock Applet - Use new GWeatherLocationEntry and GWeatherTimezoneMenu widgets to select location/timezone * debian/control.in: - updated libgtk and libgweather requirements * debian/patches/80_disable_movement_option.patch: - add a menu item to disable the posibility to dnd gnome-panels which can be confusing for users, thanks Vincent Untz (lp: #250862) -- Sebastien Bacher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Wed, 06 Aug 2008 17:25:46 +0200 ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu Intrepid) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- gnome-panel needs gconf option to suppress movement https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 250862] Re: gnome-panel needs gconf option to suppress movement
** Attachment added: "debdiff for the stable update" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16302331/gnome-panel.debdiff ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-panel As described in Bug 247507, gnome panel breaks in various intresting ways on screens with very limited vertical space if pulled into a vertical orientation (on 480px height the default panel items overlap that heavily that you cant even reach the panel itself to move it back to the top/bottom). An option to lock down the position is needed to make it possble to avoid accidential movement of the panel into a vertical orientation on such systems. While the gconf key /apps/panel/global/locked_down offers an option to lock down the panel completely, this also disables the context menu of the panel as well as most context menu driven options for the applets. The attached patch fixes teh issue, an SRU for hardy would be desired, but due to teh policy that we dont change UI elements in the released version it will need some work to only provide a gconf key and not a menu option as well. TESTCASE: - click on an empty gnome-panel space and try to dnd it to an another screen border, it should be moved there - - set /apps/panel/toplevels/disable_movement to true in gconf-editor + - search for disable_movement in gconf-editor and change the value corresponding to one of the gnome-panel being used or set the system default which should apply to new configurations - try doing a dnd on a gnome-panel, it should not be moving when the option is set -- gnome-panel needs gconf option to suppress movement https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
