[Bug 251219] Re: apple slim keyboard defaults to using a directional pad when it should default to a number pad

2008-09-10 Thread Ricky Campbell
Justin, I understand this argument and I am not the one to decide either
way. My point was that it is not a matter of incorrect operation per se
(it functions as intended, just like it operates on other PC keyboards),
but rather that the default settings for this particular set of
keyboards (Apple's Aluminum keyboards) do not make sense for the
associated key markings. Thus, there is not really a package to mark
this as a bug against.

Jad,
No problem, it did sound similar.

I don't see how we can allow the numlock to be left off if the keyboard has
no arrows

2008-09-10 Thread Ricky Campbell
This is not a duplicate of
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/201887

That bug was an actual functionality issue, this is more of a preference
thing. i.e., Having numlock on or off by default on bootup.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 201887
Slim USB Apple Keyboard not working correctly when pressing the "numlock" key

** Also affects: mactel-support

[Bug 251219] Re: apple slim keyboard defaults to using a directional pad when it should default to a number pad

2008-09-10 Thread Ricky Campbell
My personal preference is that it is left the way it is, and the user
should configure their system to have numlock on by default, but this is
not the first complaint I have heard about this operation (especially
since there are no arrows on the numberpad of these keyboards).
