So, now that icons are homogeneous, I still wonder why this redundant information... When I run Ekiga 3 + Empathy + User Switcher I get *three* circular green presence icons, synchronized via d-bus. It's the same information triplicated! Another thing to say: I liked the user face icon in previous versions of User Switcher, now I don't see any, only usernames. I wonder what the status in user-switcher is meant for... It reflects the status of empathy IM? It would be redundant to have to icons in the panel showing the user status. At first (before I saw empathy), I thought it was to let you know who else was on the machine that you could message with 'write', which seemed like a strange place for Ubuntu to place its efforts. After I saw empathy, I must say, I was just as confused as you (and the trash can sure is weird).
