I see this too on my AMD64 running intrepid.

When it happens I notice it because my keyboard doesn't react to any key 
presses anymore (using the mouse still works).
After some time everything is back to normal.

To clarify -- I actually unminimized my running liferea (which was not
blocked, and which does not use NFS), and that seemed to suddenly
unblock all the D tasks.
