Public bug reported: I'm not sure which component are involved in this bug .. Anyhow, time to time Gnome (with desktop effect enabled) crashes, become unresponsive to the point where I have to kill Xorg. Sometimes it just reboot by itself.
The thing is, when I return to gnome, all my compiz settings are gone. They're back to default. It's really annoying. It occurs at work and at home, at least once a week. My two PC are AMD 64 running Ubuntu Hardy (32bit) with compiz enabled. Both video card are Nvidia. Today I got really tired of it and I decided to scan my system log for something unusual, I found that before the crash occurs, there is lots of process that get killed with a "out of memory" message. It's pretty much unlikely that my systems lacks of memory to run Ubuntu .. both have 4GB of ram. I'm using 2.6.24-19-generic kernel at work and 2.6.24-19-server at home (to get the full 4GB of ram instead of 3.2) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gnome crash, automatically reboot and lose compiz settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/264748 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
